Hi Christina! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what “BooandBooFactory” is all about?
I have been an architectural designer since 2006, working in various architecture firms in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. After recently graduating with a master degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, where I gained a penchant for color and texture, as well as advanced computer modeling, animation and cutting edge fabrication techniques ranging from laster cut, CNC and 3d printing, I discovered I had a love of small object design. Boo and Boo Factory is a culmination of ideas and styles that reflect my training. I wanted to create bold and really unique accessories that are playful in form with an emphasis on color.
When did you become interested in creating jewels and making your first creations? Where did your creative journey begin?
I’ve always been crafty and created paintings or interior design elements for my home. I had some leather laying around and started cutting it into patterns. That’s how I began creating jewelry.
Where does your inspiration come from? Can you please describe your creative process?
My inspiration comes from my architectural background. I love mixing and matching pattern, texture and color. My creative process is inspired by my materials ranging from different types of leather and metal findings.
A song that could represent your work?
It’s really difficult to narrow it down. Spellbound by Souixie and the Banshees.
Apart from creating things, what do you do? What kind of artist are you?
Other than making jewelry I paint a lot more than I use to. Also I am always playing around and getting new ideas for my new 3d printed jewelry line that will be coming out soon.
If you had to use three words to describe yourself, what would it be?
Ambitious, persistent, creative.
What do you think motivates others to buy handmade?
People who buy handmade want special items that have a story. They want to know how and where their item was crafted as well as knowing the person behind the product.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
It would be to fly so I could travel anywhere in the world whenever I wanted.
- The Eldorado for your shop/creations? What do you dream of?
I dream of continuing to run Boo and Boo Factory full time along with my 3d printed jewelry line.
What would be your advice to young artists, starting their own business?
My advice would be to just jump in. Educate yourself on SEO, marketing strategies and product presentation. It’s a continuous learning process. I’m learning everyday.
Do you have any upcoming news to share with the readers about your business such as upcoming events, new items, sales, etc.?
